Initiative is a partnership with T-Mobile that aims to bring internet signal to “end mobile dead zones” in the world
SpaceX announced this Monday (13.Mar.2023) that it intends to start testing Starlink’s satellite coverage on the company’s cell phones T-Mobile still this year. Previously, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, had already announced that the feature would arrive in 2023.
During the panel Satellite Conference and Exhibition 2023Starlink’s vice president of sales, Jonathan Hofeller, said that the test is expected to start soon and that adjustments will be made in practice.
“We are going to learn a lot by doing – not necessarily over-analyzing – and working with the telcos”he declared.
Hofeller also said that SpaceX is building 6 state-of-the-art satellites a day and thousands of user terminals daily.
“We are rapidly moving into a world of abundance when it comes to on-orbit capability.”said the executive.
In August 2022, Elon Musk entered into a partnership called Coverage Above and Beyond (Above and Beyond coverage) with T-Mobile, a German internet service, to launch a Starlink satellite-enabled mobile service.
The goal is to take internet signal to any and every place in the world and “putting an end to mobile dead zones”.
