Government confirmed to Poder360 that citizens and permanent residents can be subjected to “anti-terrorism sanctions”
The US State Department confirmed this Saturday (Jul 4, 2026) that the country’s authorities may apply sanctions to citizens or legal residents of the United States who are linked to the PCC or the Red Command. The US government classifies organizations as “terrorists” since June 5th.
To the Poder360a department spokesperson stated that carrying out transactions with members of the groups “carries risks related to authorities applying anti-terrorism sanctions”. According to the organization, the measure is part of the objective of US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) to “eliminate cartels and criminal organizations in the region”.
The expansion of sanctions was carried out days after the US Treasury Department announced the first sanctions related to the new policy.
The punishments affected 2 Brazilians, 3 companies based in Brazil and one company in Portugal. They were classified as members of a money laundering structure linked to the PCC.
The decision blocks goods and assets under US jurisdiction and prevents US citizens, companies and financial institutions from maintaining commercial relations with those who received the sanction.

“Conducting transactions with members of the Red Command or the First Capital Command carries risks related to authorities enforcing anti-terrorism sanctions, not only on non-U.S. persons, but also on legal permanent residents and U.S. citizens. This move further demonstrates the Trump Administration’s unwavering commitment to eliminating cartels and criminal organizations in our region and ensuring the safety of the American people.”
