Uber announced its new bus service that will allow users to travel between events and airports in vehicles with capacity for up to 55 people, reducing costs for consumers. Uber Shuttle will be available for singer Taylor Swift’s concert in Miami in October. The announcement was made during the annual event of the company, the Go-Get 2024, this Wednesday (May 15, 2024), in New York.
The vehicles that will be used in the service will have a capacity of 14 to 55 seats. The feature will also allow customers to book and pay for their trips up to 7 days in advance, ensuring a fixed price.
The expansion of Uber Shuttle to the North American market follows the success of similar services in international markets such as Egypt and India, as well as corporate travel in the USA, Brazil and Mexico.
In Egypt, the introduction of the service in 2018 doubled the number of monthly trips compared to UberX, demonstrating the company’s growth potential through more affordable pricing options for customers.
Additionally, to realize the new travel model in the US, Uber intends to partner with local fleet providers, employing commercially licensed drivers.
