Republican removed from rally on Saturday (13.Jul) in shooting attack; US agency investigates the case
US Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Donald Trump “Are you sure” after being hastily removed from a rally he was holding in Butler (Pennsylvania) this Saturday (13.Jul.2024).
“The secret service has implemented protective measures […]. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and more information will be released when available.”he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the Republican’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, the former president was treated at a medical center in the city. “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their swift action during this heinous act.”he stated.
Trump’s rally on Saturday (July 13) was interrupted by sounds reminiscent of gunshots. The Republican candidate for the White House was speaking when he put his hand to his right ear, suggesting that he might have been hit by something in the area.
Trump was then removed from the scene by Secret Service agents. It was possible to see that there was blood on the politician’s ear.
As he was escorted away, he asked the officers to wait and raised his right fist, likely in a show of force. The crowd at the rally reacted and shouted in support of the former president.
