This Thursday (Dec 7, 2023), Russia scheduled the country’s presidential elections for March 17, 2024. The country’s current president, Vladimir Putin, will have the opportunity to seek his 5th term and remain in power until at least 2030. Despite the war in Ukraine and the wear and tear with the West, the president’s candidacy is strong, since the main opponents who could represent a threat are imprisoned or live abroad. So far, 2 politicians have already announced plans to run: councilor Boris Nadezhdin and journalist and former councilor Yekaterina Duntsova.
