The spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, declared this Wednesday (8) that the intensification of Ukrainian drone attacks against Russian gas pipelines affects the global energy supply network. At the same time, he highlighted that Russia continues its strategic military operations and is simultaneously prepared for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Finally, he accused the Ukrainian and European authorities of opposing this peace movement.

The statement comes at a time of escalating attacks in the Ukrainian conflict and the holding of the NATO Summit in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Tuesday (7) and this Wednesday (8). In this context, the Kremlin spokesman urged Turkey to exert pressure on Ukraine in relation to attacks carried out against Russian gas pipelines that serve international energy supply functions.

“Of course, we hope that our Turkish and foreign interlocutors will use their attention to warn the Kiev regime against such actions,” said the Russian presidential spokesman.

In particular, he cited the Ukrainian attack carried out on March 12, when Kiev used attack drones against the Russkaya compressor station, located in the Krasnodar region. This station transports gas via the Turkish “Turkish Stream” pipeline, which in turn is responsible for providing reliable energy to both Turkey and Southeast Europe. Most recently, on July 7, Russian oil company Gazprom reported a Ukrainian attack that was intended to affect Russian gas supplies to Turkey.

Dmitry Peskov described such actions by the Kiev authorities as reckless, since, according to him, it is an international gas pipeline facility that plays a vital role in the energy security of several countries, including supplying energy to Turkey and other countries.

“We consider that the Kiev regime constantly demonstrates aggression and violence, as well as a marked tendency to carry out terrorist attacks against critical infrastructures of the international energy network”, he highlighted.

He also stated that Russia is taking “all possible measures to minimize the risk of these attacks.” “However, we hope that our Turkish and other counterparts will pay attention and alert the Kiev regime about these actions,” he concluded.
