Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to India on Thursday night (10) to participate in the BRICS Summit, which will be held from September 11 to 13.
The information was confirmed this Thursday (10) by Russian presidential advisor, Yuri Ushakov. On Friday (11), Putin will participate in the BRICS Business Forum.
“It will present initiatives for trade, economic, investment and transport cooperation between the association countries,” Ushakov said. Furthermore, the advisor confirmed an intense schedule of bilateral meetings for the Russian leader on the sidelines of the summit.
“The first conversation will be between our president and the host of the summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Ushakov said. The meeting will take place on Friday (11). According to the presidential advisor, the rapprochement between the two leaders has occurred in a “frank and trusting atmosphere”. He also noted that they both enjoy informal communication.
The Russian leader also plans to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the president of the New Development Bank (known as the BRICS Bank), Dilma Rousseff, on the same day.
“Our president also meets with her frequently and, naturally, priority issues of Russia’s interaction with the bank will be discussed, including financing projects of interest to Russia, as well as the modalities of the bank’s participation in the implementation of promising financial and economic initiatives of the BRICS, including those proposed by the Russian president in 2024, such as the initiative for a new investment platform,” said Ushakov.
