Ingredients
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 cups milk (you can use cow’s milk, plant-based milk such as almond milk or soy milk if you prefer)
2-3 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
A bit of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Toppings to taste (fresh fruits, nuts, honey, cinnamon, etc.)
Directions
- In a pan, add the rolled oats, milk and a pinch of salt.
Mix well. - Place the pan over medium heat and stir the mixture constantly to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Cook the porridge for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed most of the milk and the mixture has thickened.
- Add the sugar and vanilla extract, if using, and continue stirring for a few more minutes until the porridge reaches the desired consistency.
- Remove the porridge from the heat and serve in bowls.
- Add toppings of your choice, such as fresh fruit, nuts, honey or cinnamon.
