Netanyahu sends video in support of Flávio’s candidacy

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a video in support of the presidential candidacy of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) which was shown during the party’s national convention this Saturday (25.Jul.2026). In the recording, Netanyahu congratulated the candidate on the official launch of the campaign and said he was confident that he would “will take Brazil to ever greater heights”.

Netanyahu has a history of closeness with the Bolsonaro family built over the years, which makes the gesture part of a pattern of ideological alignment. The Israeli Prime Minister and Argentine President Javier Milei were the two state leaders who declared public support for Flávio Bolsonaro’s candidacy at the convention.

In the message shown at the PL event, Netanyahu called Flávio a “my friend” and praised the relationship between him and the Bolsonaro family. “You are a great champion of Brazil. You are a great champion of friendship between our people and I know that you will take Brazil to ever greater heights”said the prime minister, in English. “Congratulations on your candidacy”concluded Netanyahu at the end of the video.

FLÁVIO’S CANDIDACY

With the convention, Flávio Bolsonaro officially becomes a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the PL. Once your candidacy has been approved, you can present yourself publicly as a candidate for the Palácio do Planalto without the risk of questions related to early electoral propaganda.

Without a defined vice president, the eldest son of the former president Jair Bolsonaro assumes the candidacy in a scenario of reorganization of the Bolsonarist political group for the 2026 election. On Tuesday (July 21), the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Netosaid that the former president will indicate the name of the vice on the ticket.

The senator begins the campaign while he is the target of an investigation by the Federal Police, authorized by STF Minister André Mendonça. The PF investigates suspicions related to transfers intended for the documentary Dark Horseabout Jair Bolsonaro, by Daniel Vorcaro. Flávio denies irregularities.

The candidacy also begins amid the challenges highlighted by electoral polls. Survey of PowerData shows technical draw between Flávio and the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in a possible 2nd round.
