Strongest earthquakes in a century

The magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes were the strongest recorded in Venezuela in more than a century. The earthquakes caused the collapse of buildings, damage to infrastructure and interruptions in the supply of energy and services in different regions of the country.

Venezuela has also received expressions of solidarity and offers of help from other countries and international organizations, while rescue teams continue to search for survivors in the most affected areas.
