President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was moved and again condemned Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, which he classified as a “premeditated genocide”. Lula also stressed that the great world powers need to stop the current situation.
The speeches took place on Thursday (5), during a press conference at the Elisha Palace, headquarters of the French government, which also featured President Emanuel Macron.
“Sorry for the emotion, but it’s sad. It’s sad to know that the world is silent in front of a genocide, where the great victim is not a soldier who is at war, but thousands of children. Honestly, the day I lose my ability to indignate me, I do not deserve to be leader of my country,” said the president.
Lula stressed that “we cannot accept a war that does not exist, but a premeditated genocide that an extreme right ruler is doing.” He also added that the attacks go against the interests of the Jewish people themselves.

The president also stressed that the situation in Gaza is “a massacre on the part of a highly prepared army against women and children. This is what humanity has to be outraged.”
In addition, he rejected the plan of US President Donald Trump from expelling the Palestinian population to build a “Middle East Riviera.” Lula said the site cannot be treated as a leisure area, but as a territory conquered by the Palestinians “with much sacrifice.”
Lula also stressed that “the same UN who created the State of Israel has to have the authority to protect the demarcated area in 1967 ″. It was a reference to the borders established that year and that have been continually disrespected over Israel over decades.“ It’s the least of common sense that we can demand as a humanist, ”he said.
Higher pressure
During the interview, President Emmanuel Macron said Europe will press Israel for conditions that allow the entry of humanitarian operations in Gaza safely.
“There is a European coordination among our foreign ministers. With the European Union ministers, but also with the British minister, to intensify pressure. The coming days will be decisive,” Macron said.
The French President also stated: “We will intensify the pressure, along with the Americans, to obtain a ceasefire, to allow humanitarian operations to start. And at the same time, we are preparing the conference of June 18 with Saudi Arabia, which must pave the way for a mechanism for Palestine recognition and a collective security mechanism for the entire region. thicker voice and take concrete dispositions. ”

The press conference is part of the agenda of commitments that Lula meets in his passage in France, which extends until the 9th. The program includes meetings with the French president, economic, cultural and academic activities, as well as official ceremonies that symbolize the narrowing of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Lula was also invited to participate in Nice of the 3rd United Nations Conference on Oceans, which seeks to promote the objective of sustainable development number 14 of Agenda 2030, dedicated to the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources.
