In a telephone conversation, the PT member invited the president-elect to visit Brazil; Mulino was the right-wing candidate and was elected with 34.5% of the votes
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) called this Tuesday morning (May 7, 2024) to the elected president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino (Realizando Metas, right-wing), and congratulated him on his victory in the election . In the conversation, the PT member invited Mulino to come to Brazil.
The Panamanian was elected on Sunday (May 6) with 34.5% of the valid votes. He entered the race to replace former president Ricardo Martinelli after Panamanian electoral authorities ruled him ineligible because of an 11-year prison sentence for money laundering.
Mulino ran as vice president on Martinelli’s ticket until the Electoral Court disqualified the former president on March 4.
Since taking over as head of the ticket, Mulino has not participated in any presidential debates and still does not have a vice president. The issue is still awaiting a ruling from the Court, but there is no set deadline.
