Israel keeps eight activists arrested and deports four

The kidnapping of part of the 12 humanitarian volunteers by Israel remains. This Tuesday (10), four members of the Flotilha da Freedom Coalition (Freedom Flotilla Coalition-FFC), which brought humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, were deported. Another eight activists are still detained after refusing to accept the country’s expulsion terms.

The negative of activists happens by the way they were arrested. They do not accept to recognize deportation when they are accused of illegally entering the country, and were kidnapped in international waters aboard the Madleen vessel and forcibly taken to Israel.

Among those who remain detained in Tel Aviv are the Brazilian Thiago Ávila and the Franco-Palestina Rima Hassan MEF. According to the statement by the Foreign Minister of Israel, Gideon Sa’ar, the eight members of the vessel that denied deportation will be presented to a judge, following the legislation.

Prisoners have been assisted by embassies from their respective countries. On social networks, the FFC states that its lawyers have been following the situation. The entity argues that the “Israeli Justice System exists to support apartheid, occupation and colonization and not to do justice. The court will ultimately order its expulsions forcibly.”

On the night of Monday (9), in Brasilia, the secretary general of Itamaraty, ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha, received the wife of Thiago Ávila, Lara Souza. The secretary assured the monitoring of the case by employees of the Brazilian Embassy for Thiago to “receive decent treatment and have their rights observed” and also reaffirmed the national commitment to the State of Palestine, recognized by Brazil in 2010.

Deportation

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg is among the deported. Arriving in France, on a scale for Sweden, she was emphatic in saying that they were “attacked and kidnapped in international waters.” She also stressed that the fight continues for the Palestinian people and the political prisoners maintained by the Israeli, including about 400 children.

To manipulate the narrative, Israel’s Foreign Ministry has used the Greta’s image, which has almost 15 million followers on Instagram to attack the initiative. The Israelis have published photos of her all the time, with military personnel offering food as soon as they stopped her, and also with the Israeli flag at the bottom of her image, or when she was already on the plane to be deported.

The case draws attention negatively, because a diplomacy body, which should lead its actions with respect, not only corroborates the kidnapping by the Navy, but has referred to the boat with humanitarian aid such as “selfie yacht yacht) or the“ celebrities ”, and mockens the delivery of water and sandwiches to the show. In one of the posts they imply that the occupants of the boat consumed the foods that would be for humanitarian aid, which reflects the perverse character in diplomatic communication.

This situation only demonstrates how the Israeli far right, along the lines of Donald Trump, treats populist in such serious situations, because the disrespect with activists is just a small reflection of how the Palestinians with a lack of humanity treat.
