Iran promised to continue retaliating against the United States more quickly and intensely after bombings against three Iranian oil tankers. This Sunday (6), the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced an attack against two US warships. In a public session in Parliament, the House speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that there will be faster and tougher responses to the attacks.
“Americans must have understood that the era of proportional responses is over,” declared Ghalibaf, speaking in Parliament this Sunday morning, local time.
Ghalibaf added that the country has the challenge of developing management structures in the import sector and boosting national production, as the increase in sanctions by the United States makes the operation of supply chains difficult, in addition to affecting the energy system.
According to the AFPWashington launched the bombings after an American aircraft carrier and destroyer avoided Iranian attacks. For the Iranian Armed Forces, the act was a demonstration of despair in the face of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. On the other hand, the US blocks access to Iranian ports. There is no prospect of retreat on either side.
Attack on marriage
Hundreds of residents of Kuhestak, in the south of Iran, participated, last Thursday (3), in the funeral of the victims of a US attack that hit a wedding party in the city, at the beginning of the week. Among the dead was four-year-old Amir-Mohammad Karimi, the only child among the victims. The missile hit the residence around 9:30 pm on Tuesday (1st), during the celebration.
According to Iranian authorities, at least four people died and almost 70 were injured. Among the dead were also a 16-year-old teenager and two adults. The number of victims may increase due to the severity of the injuries. The episode also provoked international reactions: the International Red Cross Movement submitted a representation to the International Criminal Court (ICC), asking for an independent investigation into the attack, while Iran classified the bombing as a war crime.
