This is the Argentine president’s first international trip since taking office; will speak at the event on Wednesday (17 January)

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, said this Tuesday (16 January 2024) that the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, is “contaminated by the socialist agenda”. The libertarian will speak at the event on Wednesday (17 January).

To journalists, Milei stated that the objective of his speech in Davos will be “planting the ideas of freedom”. He also stated that the “the only thing the socialist agenda will bring is misery to the world”.

The president declared that “it will make very clear the government’s conviction in making a change of course” in Argentine. Milei will also meet with the UK Foreign Minister, David Cameron.

This is the Argentine president’s first international trip since taking office in December 2023. During his visit to Europe, Milei will have a meeting with the director of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), Kristralina Georgieva. The Argentine government is negotiating the payment of the US$44 billion loan acquired from the agency.

Milei has been proposing “a stronger adjustment than that requested by the IMF” to pay the debt and respond to the interests of big capital.
