US President declared in an official statement that Washington is in contact with Brazilian authorities
The President of the United States, Joe Biden, lamented on Saturday (May 11, 2024) the deaths and “devastation” caused by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. The White House issued an official statement and stated that the US is in contact with Brazilian authorities to provide the necessary assistance – it did not give details of what this assistance is. “Jill [Biden] and I are deeply saddened by the lives lost and the devastation caused by the floods in Brazil. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people impacted by this tragedy and with the first responders working to rescue and provide medical help to families and individuals. My management is in contact with our Brazilian partners, and the United States is working to provide the necessary assistance to the Brazilians, in coordination with the Brazilian authorities leading the operation. The United States is with Brazil at this difficult time.”
