2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons wheat flour
2 cups of milk
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Salt and black pepper to taste
Directions
- Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the flour and stir well until it forms a paste.
- Cook the paste for about a minute, stirring constantly.
- This will help cook the flour and eliminate the raw flour taste.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
- Cook the sauce for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and becomes creamy.
- Add nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Shake well.
- Remove from heat and use immediately.
- This sauce makes a great base for other sauces like cheese sauce or spinach sauce.
