Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian confirms that the Chinese army is testing “combat capability” against Taiwan
The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Wu Qian, confirmed this Friday (May 24, 2024) that the military exercises carried out near Taiwan aim to “testing real combat capabilities” of the Chinese army.
Speaking to journalists, Wu reinforced that the Chinese government wants to reunify the territory of Taiwan as “one China”. He explained that the country’s army is preparing to prevent any attempted rebellion on the island.
Currently, the Chinese military organizes military training operations for the Army, Navy and Air Force near the island of Taiwan. “It is completely reasonable, legal, legitimate and necessary”Wu said.
The spokesperson was asked about the United States’ support for Taiwan’s independence. He stated that foreign countries are pushing the Taiwanese government to “a dangerous war situation”.
