The group of 34 Brazilians who were awaiting authorization to leave the Gaza Strip received authorization this Friday (10) and have been waiting since early in the morning to cross the Rafah border with Egypt. The Brazilians or Palestinians in the naturalization process were in the south of Gaz, in the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah.
“I hope we can travel today, the chance is very high. Maybe it will be difficult, but I hope that doesn’t happen and we are already heading to the border,” said trader Hasan Rabee, 30, in a recorded video on the bus with 16 Brazilians who were in Khan Yunis on the way to Rafah.
The humanitarian crossing, which is in the south of the Gaza Strip, on the border with Egypt, has been marked by logistical and diplomatic instabilities. Both make it difficult for citizens who want to escape the war zone, which has been incessantly bombed by Israel for more than a month, to leave.
Closed this Wednesday (8), due to an unexplained “security circumstance”, the border was reopened this Thursday (9).
