Spanish authorities say they are being transferred to “designated accommodation facilities”

Authorities in Ceuta began on Thursday (20 August 2026) to remove hundreds of immigrants from El Trampolín beach. They are being transferred to “designated accommodation facilities”. Images captured by the news agency on video Viory show migrants gathering their belongings on the beach as authorities begin the transfer operation.

According to the newspaper The Countryof the more than 80,000 immigrants who arrived in Ceuta at the end of July, 5,000 are still in the enclave. Of these, more than 2,000 are minors.

To the agency Vioryan immigrant identified as Yonis said he spent about 20 days on the beach. “In the first few days, we didn’t eat, we didn’t drink, nothing”he stated. He declared that he hoped to reach Spain and “have a better life”.

Another immigrant interviewed by the agency is Aladdin, 18 years old. He stated that he went to Ceuta in the hope of “change your life”.

Aladdin said he spent 3 weeks in Ceuta and described feeling scared while in forested areas with friends. According to him, immigrants were “attacked” by security agents.

“I don’t know what to do. I just sit here with my friend”he declared.
