The administration of US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) is evaluating two proposals, presented on June 1st and 2nd, which could increase import tariffs on some Brazilian products. Added together, they could be 37.5%.

Representatives of the productive sectors of the 2 countries discussed on Monday (Jul 6) and Tuesday (Jul 7) the 25% tariff on Brazilian products. It was the first day of a hearing held by the USTR on the topic.

The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) decided not to actively participate in the meeting. The senator and pre-candidate for Planalto, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), was present on the 2nd day of the session.

Here are the proposals presented by the USTR:
