On his official Twitter account, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva greeted Recep Tayyip Erdogan, re-elected president of Turkey this Sunday (28). The victory was announced by the state agency of that country after counting 99.66%.
Erdogan was leading by 52.13% of the vote, against 47.87% for his opponent, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
“Congratulations @RTErdogan on your re-election as President of Türkiye. I wish you a good mandate, with a lot of work for the best of the Turkish people. And count on Brazil’s partnership in global cooperation for peace and in the fight against poverty and development in the world”, wrote Lula.

During the election campaign, Erdogan promised to continue with the presidential system, reduce interest rates and strengthen Turkish influence in Europe.
“I would like to thank every member of our nation who once again handed us the responsibility of governing Turkey for the next 5 years,” he said after confirming his re-election.
