Illia Kyva was a former Ukrainian deputy who was in Russia; he was convicted of treason by the Ukrainian court

Ukraine claimed responsibility for the death of Illia Kyva, a former pro-Russian Ukrainian deputy. The information was published this Thursday (Dec 7, 2023) by NBC News.

According to the report, an unidentified Ukrainian official confirmed to the American outlet that the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) was responsible for the murder.ā€œThe elimination of the traitor, collaborator and high-ranking propagandist Illia Kiva is a special operation of the SBU. The criminal was eliminated with a firearm.ā€these.

Kyva, 46 years old, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on Wednesday (Dec 6) in the Odintsovo district, about 400 km from Moscow. He was a former member of the Ukrainian Parliament.

At the beginning of the war with Russia, on February 24, 2022, the politician called for Kiev to surrender in the conflict. He fled to Russia and, in November, was sentenced by Ukrainian courts to 14 years in prison for treason.

According to NBC NewsUkraine’s security service also said it was responsible for sending the car bomb that killed Oleh Popov, a former deputy from Luhansk, in the Donbass region currently under Russian control.

Ukraine considered Popov ā€œa totally cool targetā€ because he believed he was in command of the Russian forces that killed Ukrainians. The murder was confirmed on Monday (Dec 4), but would have been carried out on November 28.
