Jean Paul Prates sent an antelope figurine back to the Saudi government in early August

The president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, refused the gift from the Saudi Arabian government. An antelope figurine was returned to Saudi Arabian Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih.

Petrobras released a monthly gift spreadsheet that shows that the Saudi Arabian embassy in Brazil received the gift back in early August.

This is the 3rd time that a member of the government has returned a gift to the Saudi government. In July of this year, the vice president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), returned a sculpture of a dromedary.

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), also sent back the statue of an ounce of gold to the Saudi Arabian delegation on the recommendation of the Federal Revenue Service.

The Federal Police became more vigilant regarding gifts sent by the Saudi Arabian government after the former president of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), was accused of participating in an alleged scheme to sell official gifts.
