The World Travel Awards, the “Oscar” of tourism, were held on Friday (September 29th); Lisbon and Algarve received titles
Portugal was voted the best tourist destination in Europe for the 2nd consecutive year on Friday (September 29, 2023) by the WTA (World Travel Awards). The 30th edition of the awards ceremony was held in Georgia, in Eastern Europe.
The capital Lisbon was voted the best urban destination in Europe, while Algarve received the title of best beach destination on the continent. This was Portugal’s 6th title in the category.
O World Travel Awards chooses the best tourist destinations in the world divided into continents by online popular vote. In addition to destinations, the entity also chooses the quality of hotel companies, airlines and other tourism sectors.
Vietnam, Indonesia, Jamaica, Mexico, USA, Australia, Ecuador and Colombia also received awards on their respective continents.
