After almost 40 days of hospitalization, Pope Francis was discharged on Sunday (23). Shortly before leaving the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, the pontiff appeared on the balcony to thank the support of those who were wakeful and around the world, cheered for their recovery. In a message released by the Vatican, the Pope again asked for peace and showing concern about the serious humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip after resumption of Israeli attacks.

Still in the building, in front of three thousand people waiting for his departure at the health institution, Francisco recognized a lady, Carmela Mancuso, 78, who every Wednesday participates in the overall hearing to give him a pack of roses. The Pope also appealed to peace, referring to other countries, such as Ukraine, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Hospitalization

In dealing with the health of the Pontiff, the text described that “in this long period of recovery, I had the opportunity to experience the patience of the Lord, which I also see in the tireless dedication of doctors and health professionals, as well as the care and hope of family members of the sick.”

At 88, Francisco was hospitalized on February 14 to deal with breathing problems. Over the next two months, he will have to rest to complete his recovery and will need to treat respiratory physiotherapy and speech exercises, since his voice was affected due to the prolonged period in which he needed high flow oxygen aid through non -invasive equipment.
