Statement by the Israeli Prime Minister came 1 day after the US President presented a ceasefire proposal for the region

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this Saturday (June 1, 2024) that the war in Gaza will continue until Hamas is destroyed. The statement came 1 day after United States President Joe Biden presented a ceasefire proposal “lasting” for the region.

“Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: the destruction of Hamas’ military and government capabilities, the release of all hostages, and the assurance that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.”said the prime minister.

On Friday (May 31), Biden presented a proposal to end the 8-month conflict in the Gaza Strip. The plan, divided into 3 phases, includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces, an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

The proposal detailed by the Democrat initially suggests the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the release of hostages, including women, the elderly and the injured. In return, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners would be freed. The 2nd phase involves the release of all remaining hostages, followed by significant reconstruction of Gaza.

According to Biden, during the 1st phase of the plan, a truce for Israeli and Palestinian representatives to negotiate a permanent ceasefire would be established. However, Israel has stated that it will not suspend the attacks. Hamas was open to listening to the proposal presented by the United States.
