Object was discovered by police on Gass Peak, the highest peak in the city, on Monday (June 18)
The Las Vegas Police, in Nevada (USA), confirmed on Monday (June 17, 2024) that a mysterious object was found in Gass Peak. It is the highest peak in the North American city, 2,114 meters high compared to sea level.
The monolith, mirrored and rectangular in shape, differs from common finds in the region and sparked speculation about its origin and purpose on social media.
“Mysterious monolith! We see a lot of strange things when people go hiking, like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but look!”wrote the police, when sharing photos.
According to authorities, the object was found over the weekend north of the valley.

Similar monoliths have appeared elsewhere around the world since late 2020, with locations as varied as Utah (United States), the Isle of Wight (United Kingdom) and Romania. The authorship of the latter was claimed by the artistic group The Most Famous Artist.
However, in announcing the discovery, Las Vegas Police did not provide details about who installed the object or whether it remains at the location.
