A military base of the Iraqi PMF (Popular Mobilization Forces, in Portuguese) suffered an air raid during the night this Friday (April 19, 2024). The perpetrator of the offensive is unknown. Despite the damage caused to infrastructure, there is no information about deaths.

The target of the attack was an Iraqi force headquarters in the Al-Mashrou district, about 50 km from Baghdad, the country’s capital. The PMF stated that it is investigating the attack and will release more information.

The Iraq Mobilization Forces were created in 2014 to combat the extremist group calling itself Islamic State in the country. The force, part of the Axis of Resistance, is supported by Iran and receives training from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

During the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the group carried out missile and drone attacks against the United States army in Iraq. However, in February they ended the offensives against the Americans, according to Reuters.
