Check out the ingredients needed to make your Pernil Snack.


  • 1 kg boneless pork shank

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 3 minced garlic cloves

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 french bread

  • grated mozzarella cheese

  • chopped tomato

  • chopped lettuce

  • Mayonnaise


  • In a pressure cooker, place the shank, onion, garlic, water, vinegar, salt and pepper.
  • Cover the pan and cook for about 1 hour over low heat.
  • After 1 hour, remove the pressure from the pan and let the shank cool.
  • Shred the shank into small pieces and set aside.
  • Open the French bread and place the grated mozzarella cheese over the two halves of the bread.
  • Place the bread in the oven until the cheese melts and the bread is crispy.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and place the shredded shank over the bottom half of the bread.
  • Add the chopped tomato, chopped lettuce and mayonnaise to taste over the shank.
  • Close the sandwich with the other half of the bread and serve immediately.
