The Chinese company Temu officially started its operations in Brazil this Thursday (June 6, 2024). On May 15, the company received authorization from the Federal Revenue Service to operate in the country.

Temu will initially sell men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as footwear, jewelry, pet products and accessories. The application already has prices in reais and opening promotions.

To celebrate the launch, the app has products with a 90% discount. Among the other benefits, there are discounts of R$16 for purchases over R$160; R$40 for purchases over R$240; and R$75 for purchases over R$315.

The Chinese technology startup arrives in Brazil to rival companies e-commerce such as Shopee, Shein and AliExpress. In Latin America, Temu already operates in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

Temu’s owner is Pinduoduo, one of the most popular shopping apps in China. The company, founded in 2015, had gross revenue of US$34.2 billion in 2023.
