In a statement, Itamaraty lamented Israel’s decision to suspend humanitarian aid entry into Gaza, which exacerbates the precarious humanitarian situation and weakens the ceasefire in force.
“By exhorting the immediate reversal of the measure, Brazil recalls that Israel has an obligation – as recognized by the International Court of Justice in its provisional measures of 2024 – to ensure the provision of essential basic services and humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza, without impediments,” says an excerpt from the note.

Itamaraty also warns that deliberate obstruction and political use of humanitarian aid constitute a serious violation of humanitarian international law.
“Brazil urges the parties to the strict compliance with the terms of the ceasefire agreement and the engagement in negotiations to ensure permanent cessation of hostilities, taken from the Israeli forces of Gaza, liberation from all hostages and establishing robust mechanisms for the admission of unimpeded, predictable and necessary scale,” the note concludes.
