The country overtook Italy to become the 8th largest economy in the world; the vice president made a reference to the 1994 World Cup final
Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) celebrated this Tuesday (June 4, 2024) Brazil’s position as the 8th largest economy in the world with an allusion to the country’s victory in the 1994 World Cup against Italy, responsible for give the Brazilian team its fourth world championship. According to Austin Rating, Brazil surpassed the European country in ranking.
Brazil’s GDP grew 0.8% in the 1st quarter compared to the previous quarter and totaled US$ 2.331 trillion. It was slightly higher than that of Italy (US$ 2.328 trillion).
Alckmin also stated that growth is “fruit of dialogue and reforms” that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is carrying out and which, according to him, is awakening confidence in businesspeople and consumers.
