New York Times/Siena College poll released this Tuesday (8) reveals that Democrat Kamala Harris has 49% of voting intentions against 46% for Donald Trump. This is an advantage slightly higher than the margin of error, which is 2.4 percentage points.

It is the first time that the Democratic vice president appears ahead of the Republican in this survey, since her name was chosen to replace current President Joe Biden.

In the latest survey, released after the ABC News presidential debate, the two candidates were tied with 47% of voting intentions.

For 46% of those interviewed, Kamala represents change, while 44% consider Trump the agent of transformation. In previous surveys, the former president appeared ahead in this regard.

However, the survey indicates an advantage for Trump when it comes to the question of who is best prepared to deal with the economy. 30% of voters responded that he is better able to solve problems in this area.

Another 42% believe that the Republican, when he was President, guaranteed them greater personal benefits. As for the current government, 22% think they have more individual help.

In another survey by the Reuters agency and the Ipsos Institute, 46% of respondents said they would vote for Kamala against 43% who supported Trump. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

In the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, at the end of September, Trump had been three percentage points behind his opponent.

According to analysts, this survey indicated that the former president may have been driven by “general concern about immigration”.

This is because 53% of respondents agree with a statement that “immigrants who are in the country illegally are a danger to public safety”, compared to 41% who disagreed.

“Voters were more divided on the issue in a May Reuters/Ipsos poll, when 45% agreed and 46% disagreed.”
