Russian officials have denied that Kremlin representatives are participating in meetings that are on “Western terms”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday (15.Jul.2024) that Kremlin representatives should be at the next Peace Summit, which is due to be held in 2024. Russian authorities, who were not invited to the first meeting, refused to participate.
According to the news agency UkrinformZelensky signaled that he will be prepared for a next meeting by November, this time with representatives of the Kremlin. The 1st Summit was held on June 15 and 16 in Switzerland, without Russia.
The Ukrainian’s request was not well received by Russian authorities, who denied participation in any meeting that was not on President Vladimir Putin’s terms.
“Russia definitely does not owe anything to Zelensky and his junta. And, I am sure, it will not participate in any so-called summits on the terms of Kiev’s puppets and their Western masters.”said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs.
In a Telegram channel, Slutsky further stated that power in Ukraine is “usurped”. He said that Russia is ready to negotiate in accordance with the territorial provisions established in the country’s laws.
2nd Peace Summit
Zelensky said he will participate in 3 meetings on conclusions of the 1st Ukraine Peace Summit before the next summit.
“I have set a goal to have a fully prepared plan in place by November. So everything will be ready for the 2nd summit.”he said in an interview with journalists.
