This delicious Meat Lasagna is perfect for the weekend. Let’s do it!

Ingredients

  • 500g pre-cooked lasagna pasta

  • 500g ground meat (can be beef, chicken, or a mixture of both)

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 500ml tomato sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 500g grated mozzarella cheese

  • 50g grated parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until golden.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely browned and there are no longer any pink spots.
  • Season the meat with salt and pepper to taste and add the tomato sauce. Let the mixture cook over low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, so the flavors blend well.
  • In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Then place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Cover the pasta with a layer of grated mozzarella cheese and then a layer of meat sauce.
  • Repeat the layers, alternating between pasta, mozzarella cheese and meat sauce, until all ingredients have been used. Make sure to finish with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the last layer of sauce.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the lasagna is bubbly and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes of cooking to brown the top of the lasagna.
  • Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
