A Russian naval fleet arrived at the Port of Havana, in Cuba, this Wednesday (12), for military exercises off the coast of the Caribbean island, amid increased provocations from the West against the country. The Cuban island is about 150 km off the coast of the United States

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Alexander Moiseev, the operation takes place within the framework of international cooperation between Russia and Cuba.

The exercise, however, takes place weeks after NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member countries authorized Ukraine to use weapons produced in the respective Western alliance countries on Russian targets, even within the territory.

These are four warships from the Northern Fleet, explained the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Alexander Moiseev.

“As part of the exercise, the crews of a frigate and a nuclear-powered submarine missile cruiser are practicing the use of high-precision missile weapons using computer simulation against naval targets that represent naval groups of a mock enemy and are located offshore. distance of more than 600 kilometers,” the Russian Navy reported.

This week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he could take action if Western countries supplied weapons to Ukraine for use on Russian soil.

The group of Northern Fleet ships is made up of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which carries long-range precision missiles, the tanker Akademik Pashin and the rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, equipped with a heliport.

There is also the Kazan nuclear submarine, which has been part of the fleet since 2021. However, this submarine does not carry nuclear weapons, as reported by Russia.
