Ingredients
500g milk, semi-sweet or white chocolate (use quality chocolate, preferably in bars)
Truffles, chocolates, brigadeiro, dulce de leche, hazelnut cream, or any other filling of your choice.
Directions
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl. Make sure the bowl fits into a larger pot without touching the water.
- Heat a pan with water until it starts to boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and place the bowl with the chocolate over the pan, creating a double boiler.
- Stir the chocolate continuously until it is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to let water come into contact with the chocolate, as this could ruin the texture.
- Turn off the heat and remove the bowl from the water bath.
- With the chocolate melted, pour a sufficient amount into the Easter egg mold, spreading the chocolate over the entire surface with the help of a spoon or brush.
- Turn the mold upside down onto a wire rack or parchment paper to drain the excess chocolate. Place in the fridge for about 5 minutes to harden.
- Repeat the coating process with another layer of chocolate to ensure the egg is very thick. Again, leave it in the fridge to harden for a few minutes.
- If you want to fill the egg, place the filling of your choice in each half of the egg, leaving a little space around the edges.
- Gently heat the surface of one of the halves on a flat surface and join it with the other half, gluing them together. If necessary, use a little melted chocolate to seal the edges.
- Return the egg to the refrigerator to set completely.
- If desired, decorate the Easter egg with sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or any other ingredient you prefer.
- Ready! Your homemade Easter egg is ready to be enjoyed or given as a gift. Remember to store it in the refrigerator to prevent it from melting. Enjoy Easter!
