The children of Lebanese-Brazilian Fatima Boustami are still in the armed conflict zone in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army launched an air attack this Sunday (2) with several civilian deaths.

Fatima was admitted to the Lebanese Italiano hospital in Tire and, until the end of Sunday, her condition was very serious, according to Hussein Ezzddein. Two of the Brazilian’s children, Zahraa and Ali, aged 9 and 10, were also hospitalized. They were watching television at the time of the bombing, in the city of Saddikine, in southern Lebanon.

To the newspaper O Globo, a family member said he had urgently asked the Brazilian authorities to transfer two of the Brazilian woman’s other children, Mariam and Wajih, to a safe area. The children are 7 and 12 years old, respectively, and were at their grandmother’s house, which was not hit by the Israeli bombing.

ā€œThe mother is between life and death. The children are lost, they don’t know who to talk to, without their mother and father. They are in a region where there is a lot of attack. We are asking for help to bring at least these children to Beirut [capital do LĆbano]ā€, said Ezzddein, the coupleā€™s cousin who lives in Brazil.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel’s attack in the first hours and demanded respect for human rights and humanitarian law. Itamaraty also urged that new innocent civilian victims be avoided.

ā€œThe Brazilian government expresses its indignation and condemns the bombing of yesterday, the 1st, in Saddikine, in South Lebanon, which resulted in injuries to three Brazilian citizensā€, says the note.

The press and diplomats stated that the most important thing at the moment is the health of the victims, who must be transferred by this Monday (3) to Beirut, the country’s capital, to receive better medical care.

Lebanon’s news agency also reported the deaths of two civilians in the city of Houla. Lebanese government sources said other airstrikes hit the cities of Aita al-Shaab, Naqoura, Al-Dhahira, and Yarine.

This Sunday (2), the Israeli army launched a bombardment in the southern and eastern region of Lebanon, where the conflict with the armed Hezbollah faction has been growing.

Amid advanced negotiations for a ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli army, the Israeli war cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has focused on other places in the region.

In addition to southern Lebanon, the city of Aleppo, Syria, also suffered air attacks this Sunday.

Netanyahu’s offensive worries the international community and raises a warning about the possibility of new civilians and innocent people losing their lives in low-precision attacks by the Israeli army.
