The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, offered South African businessman Elon Musk, owner of platform X, formerly Twitter, to collaborate in the conflict that the social network is facing in Brazil. The information was released by the spokesperson for the Argentine Presidency, Manuel Adorni.
Musk, who is also the owner of the companies Tesla, a manufacturer of electric cars, and SpaceX, which operates in the field of aerospace systems, became the target of a criminal investigation in Brazil after accusing Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes of censor the platform. The businessman also threatened to disobey court decisions.
Last weekend, in a series of posts on the social network X, Elon Musk began a crusade against the Brazilian Judiciary personified in Minister Moraes. The businessman also attacked President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In response, the Brazilian president criticized the advance of right-wing extremism and came out in defense of the country’s democratic institutions.
The meeting between Musk and Milei took place in the city of Austin, in the US state of Texas, where Tesla maintains an industrial plant. According to the Argentine Presidency, Musk and Milei defended the liberalization of markets and freedom of expression.
However, it was not clear what collaboration the Argentine president could offer to Elon Musk in relation to the conflict with the Judiciary in Brazil.
Agência Brasil contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and Palácio do Planalto and is awaiting a response.
