Ingredients

  • 500g beef (filet mignon, sirloin or other tender meat), cut into thin strips

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil

  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

  • 200g sliced ​​mushrooms (optional)

  • 1 can of cream

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter or heat the oil over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until they are golden.
  • Add the meat cut into strips and cook until it is golden on all sides.
  • If using mushrooms, add them to the skillet and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well to incorporate the flavors.
  • Reduce the heat and let it cook for a few minutes until the meat is fully cooked.
  • Turn off the heat and add the cream, mixing well to obtain a creamy sauce.
  • Heat for a few more minutes, but do not let it boil after adding the cream.
  • Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve the beef stroganoff over white rice, pasta or accompanied by potatoes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
