Ingredients

  • 1 liter of whole milk

  • 2 cups of refined sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Directions

  • In a large pan, add the milk and sugar.
  • Place over medium heat, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar.
  • Once the sugar is completely dissolved, add the butter.
  • Keep stirring constantly to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • Continue cooking over medium to low heat, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  • As the milk condenses, the mixture will thicken and take on a caramel color.
  • The process can take approximately 40 to 60 minutes.
  • To test the consistency, place a small amount of the mixture on a spoon and let it cool. It should form a creamy dough.
  • Once it reaches the desired consistency, remove from the heat and let it cool.
  • Transfer the homemade condensed milk to a sterilized glass container and store it in the refrigerator.
