4 large onions, cut into thin slices
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
2 teaspoons sugar (optional, but helps with caramelization)
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
1/4 cup red wine or balsamic vinegar (optional, for flavor)
Directions
- Peel the onions and cut them into thin slices.
- Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions to the skillet and stir to coat with the oil/butter.
- Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
