Iran intends to soon become a member of the New Development Bank, also known as the BRICS Bank. The statement was made by the president of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnasser Hemmati, during a visit to India. His words were published by the Iranian government’s official information portal.

“The most important result of cooperation between BRICS member countries is the creation of the New Development Bank [Banco do BRICS]and our country will soon become a member of this bank”, declared Hemmati.

The leader expressed Iran’s interest in developing bilateral and trilateral monetary and financial cooperation with other members of the group.

The head of Iran’s Central Bank highlighted India’s efforts during his period as chairman of the group and highlighted that the two countries have already started active cooperation in the areas of finance, banking and the digital economy.
