Senator Iván Cepeda, candidate of the Historic Pact and the Alliance for Life for the presidency of Colombia, denounced this Monday (8) that his opponent, the criminal Abelardo de la Espriella, is preparing a self-attack in order to gain electoral advantage in the second round, which will take place on June 21st.
“I was informed through different channels that Abelardo de la Espriella’s campaign was orchestrating a simulated attack to influence the final results of the elections,” Cepeda wrote on his social media account.

The practice of Álvaro Uribe’s candidate (2002-2010) was widely used against the left through the famous “false positives”, when the extreme right recruited unemployed labor in popular neighborhoods to harvest the fields. Days later, these young people appeared dressed as guerrillas with their bodies riddled with bullets. In this way, the Army sold the false idea that it was “winning the war”, soldiers received awards and battalions were decorated with praise, as admitted later by several commanders of the bloodbaths.
The scale of this tragedy is still being determined. The survey by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) updated the number of these victims of extrajudicial executions, committed by State agents with support and training from the North American government, to 7,837.
Cepeda will report the case to the Attorney General’s Office
“In view of this situation, I announce that I will report the case to the Attorney General’s Office so that an investigation can be carried out. I am also providing this information to the National Protection Unit so that, if necessary, they can reinforce security measures for De la Espriella and his candidate for vice president,” Cepeda added.
The ultra-rightist project, clarified the candidate of the national and popular forces, seeks to “reverse all the progress achieved in environmental protection in Colombia, such as prior consultations and protected areas, in order to destroy the water, the swamps, the Amazon forest, the ecosystem wealth and biodiversity”, allowing the indiscriminate extraction of resources, which will be at the mercy of large national and international private capital.

Supported by President Gustavo Petro, the progressive leader urged the electorate to turn out massively to the polls – as attendance is not mandatory, abstention was 43% in the first round – “so that, together, we can put an end to fascist politics, which represents the worst crimes perpetrated in recent decades in Colombia”. A tragedy, he said in Simón Bolívar Square, in Bogotá, which means “not only the massacre of young people, the persecution of indigenous peoples and the contempt for the poor, but also the neoliberal policies that impoverished millions and, equally, the criminalization of peace dialogues”.
Neither fascism nor neoliberalism
“With the support of everyone, Colombia will not return to the era of fascism and neoliberalism”, reiterated Cepeda, denouncing that the lawyer – who became rich at the expense of drug traffickers and paramilitary leaders – received the support of Donald Trump, as he is committed to handing over national sovereignty to the United States. Among other aberrations, he warned, Abelardo de la Espriella seeks to eliminate the social rule of law and the 133 institutions designed to provide assistance to the most vulnerable population and associated with government management.
Cepeda also warned about how fascists and neoliberals intend to eliminate all the social achievements achieved in the last four years during the Petro government. “He doesn’t want to end poverty; he wants to eliminate the poor, just like Mr. Milei is doing in Argentina,” he emphasized.
Among other international support, Abelardo has the support of the presidents of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, recognized puppets of Washington in its “Shield of the Americas” policy, a project that aims to stop migration, reduce the influence of China and guarantee US control over Latin American natural resources.
