The Middle East plunged into a widespread conflagration this Monday (2), confirming the worst forecasts of a regional escalation. The military offensive launched by the United States and Israel against the territory of Iran broke national borders, dragging other nations into war, including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

The expansion of the conflict occurs at a time when European powers abandon diplomatic neutrality to assume the role of strategic supporting actors: the United Kingdom ea France already operate in the region, offering military bases and logistical support for missile launches, while the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle moves around the Mediterranean in support of the North American fleet.

The chaos strategy

For geographer and analyst Elias Jabbour, what we are witnessing is not a fortuitous shock, but a coordinated geopolitical attack. Jabbour reinforces that the aggression aims to disrupt the core of resistance in the Global South and stop Eurasian integration led by the Brics. By destabilizing Iran, the imperialist consortium seeks to sabotage the Chinese “Belt and Road” initiative, trying to reaffirm dollar hegemony and military control over energy at a time when the multipolar order is gaining traction.

The pretext used by Washington and Tel Aviv for the “Roaring Lion” and “Judah Shield” operations is the supposed need to neutralize the Iranian nuclear program and “liberate” the Persian people. However, reality reveals a much more evident objective: the forced reconfiguration of regional regimes to guarantee the primacy of North American interests in the region, ignoring the sovereignty of the people.

Iran’s retaliation

The Iranian resistance also imposed significant losses on the attackers. Reports confirm that Iranian precision ballistic missiles hit the Nevatim Air Basein Israel, causing severe damage to hangars and logistics infrastructure. Iran also announced that it had struck Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. The information has not been confirmed.

Furthermore, the Revolutionary Guard’s aerospace defense managed to shoot down American stealth aircraft over the Arabian Sea. In the Gulf, Iran demonstrated relative deterrence by targeting petrochemical facilities and naval assets that provided logistical support to invading forces, which resulted in other countries entering the conflict.

The Cry of Minab and the Western Silence

The cruelest face of imperialist aggression was revealed in the city of Minabwhere the bombing of a girls’ school resulted in the tragic deaths of hundreds of students. To date, the partial balance in Iran totals more than 555 deaths and thousands of injured in 130 cities. This massacre, perpetrated with cruise missiles Tomahawktakes place under the complacent gaze of Western powers, who prefer silence to condemning barbarism against civilians.

Beijing and Moscow: the reaction of the multipolar order

In Beijing, the president Xi Jinping classified the attacks as an “unacceptable violation of sovereignty” and an “attack on UN principles”, and called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent the Middle East from falling into a “dangerous abyss”.

In Moscow, the president Vladimir Putin condemned what he called the “cynical assassination” of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, highlighting that the action is a “dangerous adventure” destined to provoke a global catastrophe. Russia and China are now articulating, in the UN Security Council, a diplomatic front to stop the American war machine.

Brazil condemned the attack. Ambassador Celso Amorim, special advisor to President Lula, stated that “Brazil must prepare for the worst in the face of the conflict because it must spread in the region”.

Trump, this Monday (2), stated that the United States is prepared for four weeks, or more, of conflict — even with the barrel of Brent oil soaring 13% and global stock markets in shock.
