Use the ingredients below.
Ingredients
400g grated gruyere cheese
400g grated emmental cheese
1 clove of garlic
300ml dry white wine
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
Nutmeg, grated to taste
Black pepper to taste
Bread cubes (preferably French bread or baguette)
Chopped vegetables (such as broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower)
Directions
- Start by rubbing the garlic into the fondue pot.Â
The garlic will help give the cheese extra flavor. - Then put the pan on low heat and add the white wine.Â
Heat the wine until hot, but do not bring it to a boil. - Gradually add the grated gruyère cheese and emmental cheese to the pan, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon in a circular motion until the cheese is completely melted.
- If the mixture is too liquid, you can add a tablespoon of cornstarch previously dissolved in a little cold water.Â
This will help thicken the fondue. - When the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth, add the lemon juice, grated nutmeg and black pepper to taste.Â
Stir well to incorporate the seasonings. - Transfer the fondue pot to the stove and adjust the flame to keep the mixture warm but not boiling.
- Serve the cheese fondue with the bread cubes and sliced vegetables.Â
Each person should dip the bread or vegetable into the melted cheese using a fondue fork.
