Use the ingredients below.

Ingredients

  • 400g grated gruyere cheese

  • 400g grated emmental cheese

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 300ml dry white wine

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)

  • Nutmeg, grated to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Bread cubes (preferably French bread or baguette)

  • Chopped vegetables (such as broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower)

Directions

  • Start by rubbing the garlic into the fondue pot.
The garlic will help give the cheese extra flavor.
  • Then put the pan on low heat and add the white wine.
Heat the wine until hot, but do not bring it to a boil.
  • Gradually add the grated gruyère cheese and emmental cheese to the pan, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon in a circular motion until the cheese is completely melted.
  • If the mixture is too liquid, you can add a tablespoon of cornstarch previously dissolved in a little cold water.
This will help thicken the fondue.
  • When the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth, add the lemon juice, grated nutmeg and black pepper to taste.
Stir well to incorporate the seasonings.
  • Transfer the fondue pot to the stove and adjust the flame to keep the mixture warm but not boiling.
  • Serve the cheese fondue with the bread cubes and sliced vegetables.
Each person should dip the bread or vegetable into the melted cheese using a fondue fork.
