President Lula received a call this Tuesday (22) from Russian President Vladimir Putin. After not traveling to Kazan, for the 16th BRICS Summit, the Brazilian leader reaffirmed that he will participate in the meeting via videoconference.

Lula’s absence is due to a minor domestic accident. However, on medical recommendation and to carry out more tests, the president stayed in Brazil.

According to a note released by Planalto, Lula and Putin spoke for 20 minutes. The Russian regretted his absence and wanted to know about Lula’s health status, who said that his online participation in the meetings scheduled for Wednesday (23) was being organized.

“The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received this Tuesday morning (22), at 10 am, Brazilian time, a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The phone call lasted about 20 minutes.

President Putin wanted to know the president’s health status, and regretted that he could not come to the BRICS Summit, and neither could President Lula, due to the accident he suffered on Saturday. And that arrangements will be made for his participation in the meeting via video conference.”
