The sixth repatriation flight for Brazilians and family members from Lebanon arrived in Brazil this Saturday (19), with 212 passengers, including 14 infants. With the arrival of the sixth flight, Operation Raízes do Cedro totals 1,317 passengers and 15 pets rescued since October 2nd.

Considering the five previous flights, 242 children (2 to 12 years old), 40 babies (up to two years old), 138 elderly people, 12 pregnant women, 101 people with health problems and 12 people with disabilities arrived in Brazil. The priority for composing the lists takes into account women, children, the elderly and Brazilians not residing in Lebanon.

Upon arriving in the country, Brazilians and their families are welcomed by professionals working for the Ministry of Social Development and Combating Hunger, the National SUS Force (Min. Health), the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service.

Itamaraty, through the Brazilian Embassy in Beirut, informed that it continues to be in contact with Brazilians and their close family members to provide them with consular assistance and verify the need to promote a new repatriation flight, depending on security conditions on the ground.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, so far around 2,400 people have been killed in the country since Israel’s attacks on the country began. According to Reuters, Israel attacked Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Beirut this Sunday, which was also marked by a series of attacks on villages in the south of the country.
