US President Joe Biden (Democratic Party) announced a $225 million military aid package for Ukraine. The Democrat announced the assistance during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday (11.Jul.2024) in Washington DC.
According to a statement from the US Department of Defense, the aid includes the sending of Patriot missiles, one of the most advanced air defense systems in the United States, among other military equipment. Here is the full text (PDF – 29 kB, in English).
At the meeting with Biden, Zelensky thanked Democratic and Republican congressmen for their support in the war against Russia and called for a 2nd Peace Summit in 2024. “We are counting heavily on the support of the United States”, he declared.
The Ukrainian leader is in the North American capital to participate as a guest in the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit, which ends this Thursday (11 July).
Biden has already reinforced his commitment against Russian aggression.Ukraine will prevail and I want you to know that we will be with you every step of the way.“, I told Zelensky.
